Digital DEC Alpha Server ES40 - SANYALnet Labs (Supratim Sanyal's Hobbyist Lab)

Welcome to raptor.sanyalnet.lan, a DEC AlphaServer ES40 running Digital OpenVMS Alpha 8.3 Operating System. It speaks both Internet Protocol (IP) and Digital Equipment Corporation's DECnet Phase IV protocol with other computers across the world over HECnet, the oldest global hobbyist DECnet network.

SANYALnet Labs

That is just a name I have given my disorganized bunch of computers and electronics hobby projects; it is nebulous and does not really mean anything. Equivalent to "junk in the basement."

The hobbyist servers I play with, including DEC VAX and Alpha Servers running DEC VMS, Tru64 Unix, Digital Ultrix, BSD VAX and derivatives NetBSD VAX and OpenBSD VAX, and numerous other retro computing platforms (IBM System 390 Mainframe, Apple Macintosh various processors and models, Sun workstations, etc.) and the services they provide are listed at my Freeshell / SDF Web Page.

The collection of ancient and modern computers and operating systems has been accused of being a "mad scientist's lab". Sometimes I rant about random retro-computing and old-school video gaming stuff in Supratim Sanyal's Computing Blog | Wandering Digital Wastelands as a Geek.

DECnet and TCP/IP Node Status

Simple VMS DCL command procedures running periodically on SYS$BATCH batch job queue produce these HTML files. They indicate reachability of my nodes over DECnet and TCP/IP.
